My son and I hit American for a couple of hours before dark looking for some smallies. It seems as though the smallies are finally bedding in significant numbers. The rock bass seem to be done bedding for the most part, and now the smallies have moved up into the shallows. All fish were caught in 2-6 ft of water. Overcast skies, breezy, and cool. Fished from 5:30- 8:30. Primarily dropshotting roboworms and Berkley Gulp Alive minnows. Also caught one on a spinnerbait, and one on a jerk bait. At about 7 pm my son hooked into his p.b. smallie. We didn't have a scale, but I'm thinking it was in the 5 lb range. A big fat female caught on a rocky point in about 4 ft of water. Put up an awsome fight, ran multiple times, and did some airial acrobatics. Caught alot of small bass as well. The pic is terrible because my phone doesn't take good pix.

In the reg book I believe they are called Warmouth, but I've always know them as rock bass. The dont get as big as lmb or smb, but they are very aggresive and fun to catch with light gear. Dark green with black stripes, and very red eyes. They seem to be becoming the dominant species in alot of western WA lakes.
