What a beautiful day! Headed down to the Fremont area and headed west along the shore. Water was calm and clear. No sooner that I threw my first cast, I saw a fish eyeballin me from behind his rock. I thought it was probably a smallmouth, but as I had never seen one, let alone catch one, I wasn't sure. So I cast over him a few times with a grub but no takers. I went to switch to a black Senko and in doing so dropped my last shanked hook in the dirt and couldn't find it. Thought I had more but left them at home. So I looked through my tackle box and all I had were salmon hooks and this one hook with a weighted ball painted yellow. What the heck, tied it up, "texas rigged" it and flipped it out there. This thing didn't even hit bottom before fish on. First cast, first bass!!! I was stoked, all giddy and givin myself little fist pumps. Got it into shore and took a quick pic and put back in. Finally got my first bass and it was awesome. I thought to myself how easy this was, but knew in saying that I would jinx myself cuz no more fish landed. Had several bites and you could see them every now and then in the clear water, but it seemed the bite just died out. A few other guys down there were catching some too. Fished from 8:30 to 11:30 but had to get home to watch US Soccer. All in all, a great morning!
