Drove up to Fish Lake on Friday morning with my son Ryan and launch the boat at Cove Resort at around 9:00 am. We have fished and camped at Fish Lake a number of times and have found the morning bite to be good around 10:00am. Cruised down the lake past the cabins on the south side to about forty feet of water. Fish finder had the fish at 20-30 feet due to the heat. My son put his line in the water first while I messed with the perfect fishing set-up, trolling with a worm and pop gear, he had his first fish within 45 seconds, a nice 17 inch silver. We fished for another two hours and limited with a couple of nice 16 to 17 inch fish. Started to get a little warm and headed back. We were off the lake by 1:00 with our limit. All the fish we caught seemed to be bigger than years past. Will return again when the fires and smoke clear a bit. Water was pretty cloudy with algae.
Otherwise there are still plenty of fish to be had according to the fish finder. We will be back in September.
