Spent 4 days at Banks camping and fishing at Steamboat. Visited the usual haunts. At the Devil's punchbowl I caught a 13 inch largemouth on a chartreuse spinner. Failed to hit smallies along the road sideriprap to my suprise. Saw people coming back with some nice walleye from the north side of the Punchbowl, the southwest end of Steamboat Rock and Barker Flats, but I was always a day late and a dollar short. The rocks along the roadside south of Steamboat on the east side of the lake only yielded a couple of smallies. Finally, on my last day there I headed into the rocky ledges from Barker Canyon Cove around Goose Island and Devil's lake. I had an ultralight rod with a small barrel weight and a 12 inch worm trailer. Caught my limit of 11-12 inch smallies, which offered great entertainment on such a light rod. I did see one smallie that must have been 4-5 lbs and a couple of 2-3 pounders tooling around the rocks, but couldn't convince them to bite.
