Headed out to Liberty for a little smallmouth action. Very pretty lake with really clear water. Well at least clear compared to Eloika. Boated 6 SMB and 7 LMB before the wind picked up and made life challenging for the Bass Buggy. Water temps started off at 65.5 and rose to 68 by the 1500. Most of my action came off vertical structure 8 to 15 feet deep. Actually most of the smallies were caught sight fishing until the wind picked up and turned it into a touch and go game. Size on the smallies ranged from 1-3 lbs. I was shocked at the quality of LMB in this lake. Would love to have my best five in most tournements. Easy lake to establish a pattern on for the most part.

It is really a shame that access is so poor on Liberty, tight ramp, hours restrictions, etc. This is a nice little lake, productive.

Yeah I did notice the ramp was a little harder to work with. My boat is small so getting in and out of the water was not the issue. My main complaint was with the behavior of other boaters. If there is a line of people waiting to pull their boat out of the water don't barge in and push them out of the way. Also be aware of smaller water craft. I fish out of a Bass Hunter boat. Maybe you have seen them on the internet. Basically it is an overgrown surfboard filled with foam. Really it is a great little rig and can handle pretty nasty water with no problem. The manufacture claims they are unsinkable. Well I would really not like to test that claim courtesy of a ski boat. And you are correct about Liberty being productive, but it is a lake that requires attention to detail and the ability to read your electronics.
