An excellent day for my nephew, son and I. Before we started fishing we could already see several fish in the shallows. Fished the dock and all the kids were catching perch, their seemed to be a fairly large school of them. I took a break from the perch and tossed a spinnerbait for bass, first cast yielded a small bucketmouth but more impressive was the bass following the hooked one. At least a 5lber but he bolted after he saw me and my mug. Went back and forth
between bass/perch. I never saw that big bass again but I got a license plate number on him and
I'm going to track him down(lol)
All fished release
Water temps at 71
Still some algae around the shore but shouldn't cause any problems.

Totally AWSOME kevinb. Nice pics, and you're building a bond that is lifelong. Kudos to you for your including the little ones in your sport of fishing.

Are those the perch that you mentioned in your other reports? I been catching only 6 inch perch lately. Thanks for the reports and teaching the kids to be good stewards

Thanks fellas. No,these perch were rather small in comparison to the other perch that we have caught in the past.
The only problem with the big perch is there location seems to change every couple hours,seriously...its rather frustrating.
The depths change just as much, sometimes 6 feet, then 15. One area that typically does well for me is on the otherside
(rock quarry) Work the from approx the north tip of the island(but keeping on that side of the lake) and slowly work your way northward, rounding the point with the downed tree. This tree will standout from the rest,as it is loaded with branches, you can get some decent bass around this tree too.Basically that whole stretch has done fairly well for me. Theres a few other spots
that are more open water around the large collection of standing(dry)stumps but its quickly getting overwhelmed with weeds,
so I'm not sure how long the fish will hold. Hope this is helpful,I'm up here often,so if I run into you,I'd be more than happy to point out some spots that have worked in the past.
