Went down south today and hit Washington with a friend of mine who live in the area down there. I have never fished the lake myself, but have always wanted too. The weather decided to cooperate in the morning so we decided it would be a good day to hit it up. Launched out of Coulon Park at around 10:00am or so and ran to the south tip of Mercer. Put the lines in the water around 11am. Fished for a while and picked up a few, but nothing to brag about so we headed off and trolled down in front of the mouth of the Cedar. Found fish here and there for the remainder of the day and caught the majority of the fish from 42-55 feet of water. 50 seemed to be better during the beginning of the day, then 40 was the ticket later on. Fished until about 5:00pm and decided to call it quits just as the wind and whitecaps started breaking out. Sling blade dodgers and 50/50 homemade wedding rings were the ticket to success. Biggest cutt was just under 2 lbs, and also managed 2 nice size kokanee, both mature males the largest of which was about 14". Final count was 5 Cutthroat and 2 Kokanee in the box between the two of us. Wonderful first experience of this lake and anticipate coming back for more. Spoke to one other boat who said they had one cutt about 4lbs, lucky them. Sorry for crappy pix, camera phone sucks but didn't have my digi.
