Hey people, went up to Roses on Fri. evening for some Crappie/bass or anything else we could catch. We got there about 5:00pm and the wind was starting to pick up but we decided to give it a try any way. We went to the right side of the launch and started drifting with the wind a ways then anchored. Jim started off with a red and white crappie jig tipped with a crappie nibble and a bobber about two feet above. I started with a yellow marabou jig tipped with a nightcrawler and a bobber about two feet above. The bite was definitly off because it took quite awhile to get any nibbles and moving and reanchoring. finally Jim caught a keeper bluegill and I had a nibble or two.It was not very productive until the sun went down and we decided to put on our old trusty beetlespins and a salt and pepper crappie jig tipped with berkley gulp leeches and started to troll. Wow all of a sudden we were getting lots of hits but missing more than hooking. We just made it up past the launch and I got a good hit and fish on. I noticed a little more fight with this fish so it got me excited a little and it turns out to be about a one pound bass. cool.We both managed to catch a few more fish( bass and crappie mixed) but the wind really started to blow so we decided to call it a night. It was about 9:00pm when we left, which was to bad because we were planning on staying out kinda late. Oh well, any fishing is better than no fishing! Biggest bass was about a pound, biggest crappie was about 11" to 12".
