Fished Curlew Saturday and Sunday. This lake is a great place to take young kids to get them interested in bass fishing. Nothing real big but the numbers are there. I had my 6 and 8 year old in the boat set them up with a small crankbait and it was fish after fish. Nice thing was is that while they were having a ball catching all these bass it gave me the opportunity to target tiger musky. Finally hooked up with my first saturday around noon and it was a dandy 45in and about 25 lbs. Fought it for 15 mins or so after several runs and aerial acrobatics got it to the boat my fiancee did a great job netting it only problem was it didnt quite fit and when she went to lift it out it broke thru the bottom of the net. She thought she did something wrong but I reassured her that it was not her fault. So needless to say no pic of that one but she did manage to get some video of the fight and jumping action till it was time to get the net. Would have loved to get a snap shot but I told her it was a quick release. So into town we went for a new net which she -insisted upon buying. Sunday morning I returned to the same spot and on the second cast hooked up with another that was just slightly smaller fought it for about 10 mins and it came off. All in all a great time awesome weather and excellent memories. I think i have the fever now. Not good!!!!

Lonnie,
taking my 8 and 10 year old boy up to stay about 5 days at Fisherman's Cove, they have really gotten into bass fishing and I would like to mimic the strategies and numbers you produced. Were driving up from Ellensburg so I would like to have some success but we will have fun no matter what. Any suggestions for bass and musky would be helpful? Thanks.

Hey Gibby, I focused on the northern part of the lake by the tressels. There is a bay on the east side before the tressels that was the most productive for tigers. I used a clowned colored risto rap and a silver and white spinnerbait with a 7in curly tailed trailer. One note use a trailer hook on the spinnerbait. I dont think I would have lost the second one if I had. There are a couple bays past the tressels that produced the bigger bass. I hooked the kids up with No. 5 and 7 rapalas in shad and perch color. I read alot about senkos but this was fast and easy fishing for the young ones just cast and retrieve. Good luck to you.

I have managed to pick up muskies in 3 of my last 4 trips to Curlew, All were in the 36" range. One was caught just to the left of the canal upon entering Roberta lake to the south end. Another just inside Curlew and just coming out of the canal from Roberta and the 3rd just up around the corner from there on the west side in behind the island. What a thrill. I have been going to Culew since I was a little kid and love the lake and the area.
