We hit American Lake Sunday and fished for Kokanee for the first time. Got 5 Kokes by the time we decided to perch fish. The perch fishing was GREAT as usual. Averaging 10" and putting up a good fight. Wife decided in the future we would not kokanee fish and just stay on point with the perch, as they eat much better than the kokanee or anything else you can pull out of western Washington lakes. Tight lines all and give us a shout if you see a married couple in a maxxed out Alumaweld.

go to the Ft. Lewis Dock, Where the old section meets the new section head out until you reach around 20-25' of water, there is something there they are all feeding on. drop your line to the bottom and crank up a crank or two. My 3 year old son and I (mostly just me) filled half a basket within an hour. this weekend in that spot.

I would go further and say just about anywhere in the 22-40' section of water. Any less than 22' and you fight too many rock bass. If you can get on the water start in 25', get on the bottom with a worm, and move around a little bit until you get a bite. Good luck and tight lines!!!!!

Hey Oldguy,

My beautiful Wife and I fish out of a loaded Alumaweld. We'll be down Sunday 8/8 starting about 9 am'ish and fishing out of the Lakewood City Park ramp on the north side of the lake. We troll for perch right in front of the ramp and to the east. If you see us say "Hey" and I'll show you our setup. We fish for perch differently than anyone else we've seen and it's very effective. We'll give you a setup and the how's and wherefor's. Good luck, hope to see you there. randy n' lizzie
