My buddy took me out to catch kokanee for the first time. We were there from 8 AM to 3 PM. i started off with a seps mini dodger with a smiley blade wedding ring. All of the wedding rings were tipped with shoe peg corn. The kokanee were biting early on, but I couldnt get one to the boat. They would go nuts at the boat and spit the hook over half the time. My 7 ft medium action rod was used for trolling..I'm sure its not the right rod for the kokanees soft mouth.
After several hours, and trying different things, I limited out. It was fun for a first time experience. Most of the fish were in the 8 inch range with some bigger. The bigger ones are in my stomach and they are way better tasting than trout.
My buddies and I went looking for bass and perch later in the day. I caught a couple of bass and one perch on a 4 inch watermelon senko wacky rigged. All of the bass were 6 inches or less.We worked all of the northern shoreline of the lake past the bouys and couldnt locate any decent size perch or bass. Overall, it was a great day on the lake.
