I'm a little perplexed about my favorite pond in the I-82 chain. Pond # 5 usually produces good to great action for me, but this time around, the crappie didn't seem to be hanging out in thier usual spots. I took my mountain bike and float tube in for a relaxing evening casting jigs for panfish. The largemouth bass were active, but all of them were on the smaller side. I caught 8 bass and a couple of decent bluegill, but had no crappie takes in nearly 2 hours. I motated off of my favorite beaver hut and poked and probed some alternate spots. I made a long cast with a gulp minnow and finally caught a crappie, but she was the only one. I've had a productive streak at this lake and I guess I was due a sub par trip. Still the scenary and beautiful fishing conditions made for another nice foray on pond # 5. The Jigmiester.
