Thought I would add something to Sutherland's log as I checked here before the trip and found nothing from this late in the season.
Got to the lake at 7:30 and had the first kokanee in the boat a half hour later. Caught five nice kokanee averaging between 12 and 14 inches also caught several trout--cutthroat--which were released. I fished about four hours total. The ticket was fishing a KoneZone Moon Jelly UV flasher with one of the company's new SquidderDun squid spinners, also in UV. I lost two at the boat and had three get off on the way in. The kokanee are just starting to color a bit.
I tipped the squid with Pautzke's fire corn in cerise plus a Gulp! white maggot on the trailing hook.
The water temp was 70 degrees and all fish came either at 40 or 50 feet. My GPS wasn't working, so I can't tell the speed.
This was my first trip to Sutherland, and I'm wondering why I waited so long; it's a beautiful lake. The WDFW launch, located off South Shore Road, has ample parking, but be careful of the ramp. The concrete sections have separated a ways down, and there is a pretty big hole between the two sections. I didn't have trouble with my boat, but a bigger/heavier boat could be in trouble.
