What started out as a trip to Lake Sammamish for salmon turned into a trip to Pine for bass. Showed up at the Sammy launch at ten after six just to see the gates already open and a floodlight set up in the parking area A guy at the entrance tried to sell me his launch ticket, but when I asked why, he said the Native Americans were out with their nets. Most everyone who was showing up like I was just pulled on through and left. I opted to go home and get my bass gear. No one was fishing Pine when I got there, so launched and was on the water by 7:30. Started off as a beautiful morning. Pitched crawfish creature baits and Senkos. Picked up my first fish after about 30 minutes on a Senko. Fought really well and was surprised to pull up what was probably only a 2 pounder. I thought it was going to be bigger. Tough fish. Snapped a pic and let'er go. The weather turned shortly afterwards with the wind picking up and the clouds moving in. Fished until 10am with just a few more small nibbles, but no more good hits. The last hour was dead. At least I caught a fish, even if it wasn't the salmon I started out for. Somebody apperently doesn't want me to catch a salmon this year. lol.
