Response for Stephen. I've fly fished Green Lake several times already since the beginning of April. Success was correlated to time of day (8AM to 10Am and 4PM to 6PM were best) and location (NE corner and SW coves were best).

Patterns that worked well: black woolly buggers and maroon woolly buggers with lots of flashabou in the tail. olive damselfly nymph.

Retrieve: I tried to cast parallel to the shore, let it sink about 20 seconds and then used a slow strip and pause to retrieve. In some areas the shore guys won't let you get too close (they try and cast at you to get you to move out). When this happens, move out of reach and cast in perpendicular to shore using the same type of retrieve after allowing 20 seconds for the fly to sink.

This same system worked for me last year at Green Lake well into early June and produced some nice triploids and holdovers up to 18 inches and a 20 inch brown!!! I kept the brown because it had been hooked in the gills and gave it to a bank fisherman (one of the ones who didn't try to cast at me) since I don't really want to eat anything out of that lake.
