Second year of what is now an annual trip. Mardon is AWESOME.... Arrived Friday morning and stayed through Tuesday. Lake was not as low as last year, water temp was higher 65ish. Mostly sunny through Monday eve.
I'm a catch and release BASS hunter, 30 years of practice and still learnin new tricks.
Goose Island was productive every day, nothing over a pound and mostly small mouth.
6" Pumkin with blue flake and Chartruse salt worms did the best. Split shot 16" from the hook, casting to the rocks and workin it all the way to the mud.... FUN FUN but nothin bigger than a pound.
Crank baits along the rock damn, 4" divers, jerk n reel, landed a couple a nice small mouth.
Spinners and Salt worms by the state public launch, again lots a fun but nothing to brag about.
Jigged for perch at the dock and landed plenty, 4' ultra light, 4lb test, multi colored feather jigs.
I saw a few, very few really nice fish, local anglers, who've mastered the tricks nad honed their skills.
All in all, FANTASTIC trip, fishing, friends, food, and frolic..... my favorite 4 f's...
