In an effort to fix my very screwed sleep schedule, I stayed up all night.
I headed out to Lake Union and got there around 9 am.

I started off just trying to see if I can get some panfish to bite.
Not a single bite whatsoever on a tube jig or on just a piece of worm.

The Largies didn't want a worm either.
It was the first time ever that I saw a small Largie come to the surface, look at an entire nightcrawler and just turn away.
I couldn't believe it when about 10 different largies came to investigate a full nightcrawler and just swam off.

I then decided to switch it up and started tossing a Spinner Bait.
I had one bass that looked to be about 1.5 lbs maybe 2 follow it in a few times but turn away at the last moment.
I decided to try the musky trick and do a figure 8 and it worked and failed at the same time.
The Largie kept following it in the figure 8 and actually struck my spinner bait but hit it from the side and didn't get hooked.

I then switched it up to again to smaller spinner bait type lures and caught 6 small Largies.
Had a ton of follows and short strikes.

I wish I had some topwater plugs or a popper because fish were surfacing everywhere.
I even saw what appeared to be a GIANT rainbow trout breach the surface completely and come out at least a good solid 2 feet out of the water.
It was quite the sight to see.

I then decided to give my shot at crankbaits.
I have never really fished crankbaits much before but I figured I'd give it a shot.

I had these two crankbaits that I had purchased earlier this year but never caught a Largie on before.
Well, I caught fish on both of those crankbaits today :)
I was casting near the weed edge and shore line and working them in with various retrieves.

I caught 5 Largies total on the crankbaits and it was a total blast.
Being pretty new to crankbait fishing, the feeling you get when a Largie slams your crankbait is pretty amazing and instantly gets your adrenaline flowing!

The biggest Largie I caught today weighed in at only 12 oz but it was fat for it's size.
It was short but fat.

First picture has two different Largies that I caught.
Second picture is the Largie on the bottom of the first pic.

Hey Elijah, nice bass there. I've been out to Lake Union a few times over at the Fremont channel and at the park on the southern end and have caught ample bass. Do you have any other suggested areas for shore fishing around there? Thanks!

Aaron
