We spent a great day weather wise on our favorite lake, trying to get some fishing done in spite of bad weather lately and busy schedules. This lake will silt up pretty soon due to mountain runoff which will def. put a crimp in catching fish. But Sat. was lovely, at least until the afternoon when the mt. mist rolled in. We had caught 8 by then, this one being the largest., with 4 more close to this size and one dolly not real large. We waited out the rain at lunch and it cleared 'till about 4:00 when we left with 3 more fish, another small dolly and 2 more searuns, one of which was close to this one in size. That made 11 for the day, not even one limit(you are allowed 12 fish per person but the closest we've come to that is 16 for the two of us.) but that's quite a few fish for us.I tried a new product, Pro-cure trophy trout scent gel with UV flash, I was worried about the clarity of the water due to heavy rains and wanted exrta visibility but the lake was clear, using side by side with Smelly jelly on identical lures there wasn't much diff. till the light faded as sun went behind the overcast, then the UV started to out perform the Smelly jelly. Def. worth a try for low light situationsThe Quinalt had a canoe procession along with a salmon bake at the Lake Quinalt lodge, as we had quite a few fish to clean and cook tomorrow we passed on dinner. It was really nice to see them paddle one of these impressive canoes and sing songs of celebration while departing. It made a great final touch on a great day. Good luck to all , the lowland lake season wil close soon on most lakes, make the most of October! Bob R
