My buddy and I have been wanting to check the lakes out around here for years and finally took the opportunity to give it a go this past weekend with mixed results..
Started on Loomis Lake at about 7am, wind was calm and it was overcast to start. This lake is shallow this time of year, very shallow! Deepest water we found was maybe 8'? (No electronics) We started the morning with topwater baits shallow along the reeds and few docks we found. My buddy hooked and lost one about 2-3lbs on a buzzbait in the first 50 yards and that was about it! We fought our way through the weeds and grass the lake is full of and made our way up to the north end where we found the "deep" hole that was weed free and about 8' deep... We hit two fish on spinnerbaits, and I hit one swimming a jig. Working our way back south we missed one more fish on top and that was it! The south end of this lake was too weedy to navigate so we skipped out and headed for breakfast at about 10:30.
The water level looked to be 4-5 feet down, I would love to hit this lake again in the early Spring when the water is higher because the shoreline is full of stumps and reeds that would be very nice during pre-spawn!
