Decided to hit up Liberty as the weather has cooled off and so has the water. 58F surface temps in the shade and 59F on the northern shorelines from 4pm to around 6pm.
Hit the usual spots and had several follows on Spro lipless cranks but no hookups. Went back to the confidence bait, dropshotting deep transition areas and ran into a few anglers who I havent' seen in awhile. A few casts later, ended up boating the smallmouth seen in the pics. She weighed in at 2lbs 10oz and was a nice fight on 8lb test.
Went to a southern bay and spent awhile bs'ing with the guy I bought my boat from since he lives on Liberty and then got prepped for some topwater action. Went to the northwestern weeded areas west of the ramp and got a huge hit on my Luckycraft gunfish, set too quick so missed the fish. Immediately reeled in and fired my dropshot rig back into the same spot and ended up getting the LMB in the pic. Went around 2lbs and was nice to get a decent fish on the one-two punch technique.
Got another big hit on the topwater but didn't get the follow-up dropshot close enough so nothing boated. Loaded up and headed for home around 6:30pm.
