My boss and I went out on my boat this morning in hopes of taking a few of the fish planted a few weeks ago. We arrived at the lake around 10:30 a.m. since it was so cold it didn't seem necessary to get there any earlier. It was overcast but not looking like rain. Just as we got there some others were leaving who said that they had no luck.
We launched my porta-bote from the bank rather than use the launch thinking that we could avoid the launch fee. $7.00 is WAY too much for the park to be expecting people to pay for such a primitive launch, not to mention a fishery that these days leaves a lot to be desired! Anyways, off my soap box, we trolled the lake for 3 hours, still fished in a couple of places for awhile but didn't even have so much as a bump. The few shore fisherman that arrived didn't stay long either, the cold temps have probably downed those fish that were planted and nobody was getting anything as far as I could see.
After three hours of no action I went back to my truck to find a notice on my windshield telling me that I needed to pay the launch fee for having a boat in the water. Grrrrr! That just made the trip even more aggravating, not planning to go back there until the spring when the fishing might actually be worth the money.
Bottom line: unless you can't find ANYTHING else to do, including going to work, don't bother wasting your time OR money by fishing this lake right now.
