Decided to make a mad dash for the lake with a break in the weather! Two good friends and I headed over to Lake Sammamish to see how the cutthroat are doing over there and they seem to be doing great. We got our lines in the water around 8:30am and fished until about 3:00pm boating somewhere around 10 cutthroat and losing several others including one large one that looked to be over 2 lbs, maybe closing on 3. The majority of our fish were caught East of the Weatherstation in 100 feet of water from 25 feet down on the downrigger to the surface. We ran 2 rods on the outside on riggers and one up the middle with a half ounce of lead and just a red wedding ring. The center rod was the producer for us, and one downrigger with a sling blade dodger and 50/50 wedding ring down 25 feet was the other producer for the day, although all 3 rods produced some form of action. The majority of the fish were between 14-18" and very healthy. We opened up a couple to see what they were eating on and it looked like mainly some form of krill in there stomachs, looked like they were probably HUNGRY. It seemed like there had been some sort of bug hatch due to the warm weather we have had the last few days and there were (what looked like) mosquitos EVERYWHERE, tons of the damn things. I don't think they were skeeters though because they didn't seem to bite? Enforcement was down there at the end of the day handing out citations for people fishing with multiple poles, I guess it happens frequently out there so please be aware 2 rod endoursements DO NOT work for Sammamish and Washington due to their proximity to Puget Sound we saw at least 1 individual trolling with 2 rods out and fishing alone. The weather was great; started out overcast and dead calm then after 12pm the rain kicked up and it rained the rest of the afternoon, the wind stayed away though so the rain didn't bother us much. Overall a very good day on the water, always love getting out to Samm or Wash when I have a free minute, never fails to be a great time.
