Had to try to catch some more perch. I arrived before 9am and stayed until 2pm. Caught many, so many, tiny perch and a few pumpkinseed sunfish. I am guessing in excess of 50 small to almost a keeper in size. Ended the day with 2. The ice was still in the 10 inch range. After noon, the ice was doing a lot of cracking and when it sounds like it is right under you, at least I take a deep breath and wonder if.... On the way out passed 2 groups of guys; group 1 decided to fish on a whim and did not have maggots only some Gulp. Well they had had no luck yet. Now group 2 was prepared and had as many as 15 between them of keeper size and a couple that could go 10 inches, thet also had dozens of smaller perch and pumpkinseeds. You just gotta have bait, even with bait that has been down for a while you will need to freshen it up regularly to ensure steady action, fresh is best. Good luck all.

Great report and glad the ice is holding at Eloika; Good place to use up my maggots. Are they rolling through in schools or are you finding 'em holed up in one place?

My experience is that they are in groups. I found that they prefer some movement to the jig, dead sticking does not produce much. And if you can go earlier than later things seem to taper off late. I have been using the small ice jigs I bought at the former Warehouse sports and the color does not seem to matter. Fresh bait really helps if the bite slows down. Most of the other fisherman having been working the area within about a 100 yds of Jerry's Landing and slightly north. Good luck and if you need anything else just ask.

steel_lee - thanks for the info; Wish I'd seen it earlier. Fished Eloika yesterday with a co-worker. Had a good time hooking fish even though the keepers were few.
