I pulled up to the lake at about 11am to find that the water level was much higher than I have ever seen at Blackman's. I had to park in 6" of water just to launch my boat, the road is almost submerged, so don't forget your boots if you want to swing by. I started deep trolling a set of flashers with a fresh worm trailing as I made my way to that little dumb windmill on a private dock. I noticed that all the lilly pads are now completely submerged, and decided to cast out a J5 Rapala while working the lake edge instead of trolling and hopeing. After a little lilly pad catch and realease action , I slowed down the retrevial speed and added a little more spaz action, and when this triploid hit and run all I could think about was how little line was on my spool ! Tuned the drag quickly on this wonderfull Pflueger mini and we danced for a good 7 min or so before netting the beast. I was on and off the water in less than 1 hour, little work , BIG dinner ! 22" and about 4 pounds !! See you out there, or maybe at the Sportsman's show this week, Bent hooks to you and yours...... I like that lake. Most fish are smaller, 11 to 14 inches, but there are some nice ones. 2 weeks ago a friend of mine got his best ever, 4 3/4 pounds at the opposite side. Luckily we had a net to bring it in. Unfortunately it was bleeding, so it was kept. I like to keep the smaller ones, but also like to release the bigger ones to fight another day... but sometimes it's not possible, the fish would die anyway.

I think that is a healthy patch of NW Moss. Grows good and nappy in these parts. LOL

I can't believe the fish ate that Rapala even with no guts in its stomach!
