We had a Cub Scout camping and fishing overnighter thanks to some of the Pack folks that belong to the Star Lake Park Association. We were teaching the boys about boating and fishing. They got to fish from a dock as well as a boat with electric troll. Mostly we we tangled boys, but we did get a few trout trolling spinners and Flatfish but the surprise was 3 Smallmouth Bass caught on tiny crankbaits from the dock. The fish were only 6" to 8", but definitely Smallmouth. They were not shown previously in the 'book' but I guarantee they are there now. Perhaps an illegal plant by someone, but in this landlocked stained water lake a far better choice that those dumb hatchery Rainbow. These may actually grow up to taste good and have a chance to multiply in that ecosystem. That may not be what the DFW wants, but I doubt they will kill off all in the lake to get rid of them. There are definitely Largemouth in there too, but rare for a young boy to get on of them.
