After appointments in wenatchee this morning, Cindy and I headed up to Rufus Woods in the afternoon. Our plan was to make a run up to the pens, and catch the afternoon bite. When we arrived at the lowermost pens, the current was rippin. There was 3 other boats, and one toon, and we didn't see any fish pulled in from the other boats. They may have caught something before we got there, but two of them said it was slow. I hooked into a 3-4 pounder on my second cast, and I thought the clinic was open. Well I was lucky to have got that bite. We fished above, alongside and below the pens, and didn't get anything else. All the fish we were marking were 40-60 feet deep with some marks close to the bottom in 70-80 feet of water. We weren't prepared for deepwater fishing with the current running as high as it was, so we headed down with intentions of fishing a few holes on the way back to the launch. We hit several of our regular spots, and only caught two more in the cabin hole. They were 2-3 pounders, and all fish were released to grow a little more. It was getting late in the day when we fished lower, and weren't able to get anymore hits. The water temp was running around 38* Even though we didn't slime the boat, it was good to check out the water. After we got home, I looked at the barometer, and it had been falling since mid day. Wonder if the strong current and falling barometer had anything to do with slow bites. Tight lines and sharp hooks everyone

Sounds like a fun day anyhow Lewis. Yeah they have been releasing a lot of water last few days so it may be moving the fish around some. Just keep pluggin at it and you will be schooling us all again soon.

Sounds like fun Lewis! I think a combo of bad Ju Ju itus made for a slow day at the Rufus. Though Trout seem to be lass affected by the Lunar tables than other fish, the 28th was rated a 15 out of a possible 100 by my astro tables book. I'll squirrel away your report on my Data comparison fishing sheet and compare the good/bad catch rates according to Lunar chart on my computer. Thanks for the up and up Lewis. Jiggy

I looked at that Barometer before I headed out Loui and thought that I was going to be in trouble also on the catching side but, When I hit that deepwater on Chelan, I was absolutely Blown away with the big arches that were showing in the 300ft and Deeper range..dropped lines down and 4 minutes later was a reelin 1 in..fished up there for 1 hr. and boated 4..back home in 2 hrs from time started..Big fish was 13 lbs. 14 oz...I do think that I could have stuffed the cooler up there....Lots of fish and they all had Koks in there stomachs..

Hey Malottguy, the good thing about fishing is there are times when one gets "schooled" instead of schooling. LOL It keeps us on our toes.
Thanks for the comment and good luck on your outings.

Howdy Jigster, Cindy and I always say it's all about when you can go fishing, and if the fish are biting, then that's a bonus. About the only thing that keeps us from fishing is "extreme" weather conditions. LOL It's all about getting out an enjoying the great outdoors.

Wooo Hooo Joe!!! Glad to hear you went up and pulled some big ones out. Look forward to hearing the story, and the big ones must be dining regularly on the Kokes. After a morning at the Dr office, I would have been happy to fish in a bucket even. LOL
