3 of us ran up to Pierre for a day of ice fishing. We had the lake to ourselves today. We were hoping for a few carryover rainbows but found a few cutthroat apiece instead. Beautiful 12-14" lighter colored cutthroat, not monsters but loads of fun! Had to punch a bunch of holes in the ice to locate them. It was a beauty of a day with the sunshine but got cold as the sun went behind the towering mountain on the west side of the lake. A small piece of worm and a balls of fire on a size 8 or 10 hook seemed to work just fine. Fishing was slow but the scenery and solitude made up for that.
