Went out with "Edgeran" today after seeing a few reports from the past week. This was my first time fishing Stevens so it was helpful to see where people were having luck, and my buddy had some spots to try as well. We went out to target the cutts and kokes that people have been catching and started off launching from the down town launch and headed south to my buddies spot. Saw plenty of fish on the finder but no luck. After a couple of hours of no fish and getting pissed on by the rain we headed over to the airator to give that a try and we started seeing alot of action on the surface. We started off with nothing and then we started adjusting our trolling speed and not to long after that "edgeran" noticed his rod going crazy. Looked like a nice 14-15 incher from my seat and then he got the fish to the boat and the fish grew about 10 inches and I thought this net I have isn't big enough. I was going to go for a bigger salmon net that I had under the cabin but "edgeran" insisted that the little trout net would be just fine. Turned out to be a nice 4.5 lb 24inch rainbow! Biggest trout I have personally seen caught! Turned out to be the only fish of the day but gave it a 5 because of the quality over quantity factor. Cant wait to get out there and try again.

That looks like one of the plants Trout Lodge put in there last spring, they are looking very healthy. We watched them put the truck load of a fish in the lake, the biggest ones were 13lbs! My buddy caught one later that week that tipped the scale at 7lbs. There are whopper trout in that lake, just gotta find the willing biters.

Come on Mick, it weighed 4.8lbs man!!! What's with you tryin to short me .3 ounces huh!?!?! Haha! Thanks again for the cold, rainy, windy, bumpy boat ride man. Glad we stumbled across some action and got the Noisy I mean 'Quiet' Sounder into a monster feeeeosh!!! Can't wait til next time.

GREAT nice fish. Im not sure if its just the trout lodge. I read about a man that gets donations to put in big fish and dose it as offten as he can. When he gets enough money. I have the artical but cant find it. How deep were you fishing?

Trout Lodge Inc is a top notch outfit. I worked at the Rocky Ford Creek Trout Lodge hatchery near Soap Lake a while back. Bill Witt, the hatchery manager assigned me to the Kamloops Triploid Trout program. I raised them babies from egg sack, to fry to fingerlings and made some of the first deliveries to the Rufus Woods Indian net Pens when Ed Shallinberger of Columbia River Fish farms owned them. The Triploids grow up to 3 times faster than a typical WDFW Donaldson strain stocked rainbow trout. A heat/pressure process splits the normal 2 chromosomes in to three, whereby "Sterilizing" the fish, effectively nuetering it. None of the food a Triploid eats goes for sexual maturity, it all goes for rapid growth. They are prized by the Japanese and Norwegians for thier dark meat and fatty insides. I only met the owner once, but you re right. Donations help to make triploid trout plantings across the state a reality. Now any one can catch a "Monster" trout in many other lakes in Washington State because of his generosity and WDFW fish planners. Dave G.

Thanks Dave, it was unexpected to say the least. Made the trip in the nasty weather worthwhile.
