Well since yesterday put skunk on the boat, Cindy kicked me awake at O dark 30 saying get up and lets go catch a fish. (jokin bout the kickin part) LOL. Anyway, a cup of coffee and pastry (I know, not healthy) later, and I was hooking up to the boat. Got to the lower trench area, and dropped down a orange spatterback Hi Fly with wiggle fin in front, and Cindy dropped the Green spatterback Hi Fly with a smily blade. We were marking arches in 170-190 feet of water just as the depth dropped off. In a few short minutes I had a hit and the fight (reeling anyway) was on. A six pounder came to net. Was marking a few schools of kokes in 100-125 feet of water, and there were large arches around them. I rigged another rod with drop weight and attached a large silver scale pattern coyote spoon. Dropped this back quite a ways and down to what I hopped was in the target area. Cindy hooked up on a small mack and got it to the net. This was all in the area of the blue top condos. We cirrcled here a few times, then trolled up by rocky point, and on a little farther. Changed the drop weight line to a small flatfish, and put it back in. Didn't get a hit on the drop weight rod today. Got several hits, and two take downs that popped the clip, but missed them. Ended the day with five in the box with one lost at boatside. They ranged from around 2 pounds to 6 pounds. We tipped the hooks with a chunk of pikeminnow today, so maybe that helped. The active lure for us was the green spatterback with the smiley, and wouldn't you know it, cindy's was the only one in the boat. LOL Saw Andy from Darell & Dad's on the water in the AM, and Anton's boat (at least I think so) later in the day. Both boats were flashing nets, so should be a couple of good reports coming from that dirrection. The temp was 39* this AM and warmed up to lower 50s, calm water in AM, and mostly clear shies. A perfect day on Lake Chelan. Be safe all.

Loui. You done placated the Mrs after that "Skunk-bath " the other day. (A happy and smiling miss-es with big fish bodes well for future outings.) Just like our Rufus trip, you set Cinder's rod up with the winning combo! Lol May your lengendary status continue to grow Sir. Jiggy

He Jiggers, Oh if only you knew. LOL Ole Cindy is usually pretty vocal about what she gets rigged up with, but I wouldn't trade her for the world. I don't know about the "legendary" stuff, but if the missus is happy, I'll count myself one lucky dude. LOL Take care and we'll have to chase some fins soon.

Hi ya kevenb, I agree with ya. LOL I used the three because it seemed to fit the catching, but as for the overall fishing experience, it would rate a 6 for sure. Thanks for the comment.

Well done Loui! Looks like you are getting them lake trout down pretty good, bet them macks are great for the smoker, being a oily fish and all. Hopefully RW will start to heat up. Great report, keep em comin. Tight lines and be safe out there.

Thank you Dafishskayer, The macks do work great in the smoker, and the smaller ones aren't too bad on the grill. When I clean the fillets up for the grill or the smoker, I will fillet off the skin, then trim all the "belly" fat off, and then Shave off the layer of dark fat that is under the skin. When I'm through I have a nice pink "lion" of meat. It is more oily than spiny rays, but not much more so than a Trout. Cindy will rub the bone out fillets in lemon pepper then put them on a hot buttered George Foreman grill. They cook up nicely. I've heard the shrimp here in lake chelan (which the macks like to eat) imparts a good flavor. I too am waiting for RW to be more active, but believe it will happen. You and yours bee well
