We arrived at Eloika early. I was a bit groggy from the night before so I'm guessing it was 6:45. Headed out past Jerry's Landing about 400 yards to one of our "usual" spots. We drilled 2 holes and set up the shelter before I even turned the Vexilar on. Within about 20 minutes we had 3 keepers on the ice, but we decided to move becuause the fish in the area were inactive. We would see them come up to the Fiskas/White Nuggie and just turn away. Dan suggested that we hit a spot we haven't been all year. And it was a good decison.
After the 15 minute walk we drilled 4 holes and started fishing. The area is a bit more weedy, but it held the fish. We kept around a dozen or so quality perch. All fish were right at the 9" mark. We caught a million more perch...too many to count. We also put out a dozen grasspike for the eagles. I realized the night before that I had lost my box of jigs. I think that I left them on the ice when I last fished with JayK. This became a problem after we broke off on several large bass. We played them for a bit, but they broke us off every time. I think they just got in the weeds too quicky for us to turn them with the light gear. It was still a blast.
PS if you found my jigs, I will buy them back from you =) 2 sided plano with many jigs, some fiskas, panfish pounders, gill pills, forage minnows, rattln' flyers etc.
