Silver's perch bite continues to go downhill, although I'm convinced it's the result of the turbulent weather we are experiencing. I arrived at the usual 7:30 and linked up with Jim and his wife in an area we had our best success yesterday. She had photographer duty and was there to get some cool pics of the local heron. Jim got a couple dinks, but I went fishless, so I drilled 4 holes at 10-yard intervals out into deeper water. Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Undeterred, I asked Jim and his wife to call 911 if I went for a swim, and headed out another 40 yards to the "honey hole", convinced that's where they'd be. Nope. Not enmasse like the glory days anyways! In nearly 3 hours of fishing I got only six takes and four fish total, these coming from about 8:15 until 9:00. While other folks packed it in, I continued to move and drill. Ditto for Mike and Stan. We were unsuccessful, to say the least! I did not get a single take between 9:00 and 10:45 when I finally called it quits.

The gray ice thickness varies from 5-9", with the thickest being near the banks. Further out, the clear ice is about 3-4". Be very careful if heading south of the red boat house. There is a spring or some sort of flow, located off the point, where the ice is completely gone. This open water extends like a long, narrow finger for more than 50 yards off of the bank.
