Had a couple of hours to kill this Am, so headed down to the public Launch and put the boat in. Headed up to the lower trench area (blue roofed condo) and dropped down a green spatterback ace hifly with a smily blade on one rod, and a home spun trolling fly with wigglefin on the other. About 10 minutes into the run I had a bite, then fish on. (green hi fly). It was a little over five pounds, but when I go to put the net under it, the treble hooks the net right at the hoop. Had to flip the net over (with fish attached) to get him in. Anyway. Dropped back down and continued on. The wind was blowing enough so when I was making the turn to repeat the run, the boat was slipping, and with the wave action the downrigger somehow got hung up. Ended up losing ball, clip and my green hi gly, waaaa. So put on another rig and dropped down a "Pink" hi fly. (didn't have a green one). trolled around a bit more, but time ran out for me and no more bites for the morning. Next week, and a trip to H O T, and I'll be back in action. LOL I did mark lots of arches on the bottom, and several schools of kokes, or at least small arches in a bunch. Other than the wind and ice in the guides, it was a good day on the water, and The grill got used this afternoon. Tight lines all,

Hey Lewis, look at all the gas money you save by fishing local! LOL Sorry to hear of your lost gear. While I fishing Roosevelt today I talked to some fellas that had struck out at the upper pens from shore. So I don't know but maybe we aren't missing anything at Rufus just yet. But, the pull of triploids is hard to resist!

Loosing dr balls, clips, and gear sucks. My fear when that happens is having the DR ripped off the boat too. H O T, is that Hooked on toys in Wenatchee? Surprised Chelan does not have a sporting goods store. Or maybe they do, but the prices, selection not so good.

YAA Hoo, I'm richer for sure afk, but after a trip to HOT, I'll be back in the hole. LOL I know what you mean about the pull of the triploids. I been putting it off, but it's getting harder to resist.

Hey motoboat, I feel like if a person is going fishing then something must be going good, and loosing gear once in a while is part of the experience for some of us. LOL It would be a bummer to have a rigger yanked off the boat. I have the tension set to where it will retrieve the ball from the depth, but wil;l slip when it gets hung on something. Usually a little boat manuevering will set it free, and I have cleats close to the rigger to wrap the line on too. Chelan being a tourist destination townmakes the selection a bit pricey, and I usually save enough on a purchase to make a trip to Hooked on Toys in wenatchee worthwhile, plus the selection is far greater in wenatchee also.
