Alright! Fly fishing at Green Lake is finally open for business! Left the camera at home thinking wasn't going to catch anything today. Oops.

First fish catch since November of last year. As noted in other previous reports lots of planters circling the shallows. Threw a prince nymph out in front and got 6 in less than an hour. The catch rate was high because we were able to actually see the fish and sight-cast to them. Fish were from 8-12 inches. Stopped after 6 to preserve the future population for the spring and summer. Hope they plant more later on though.

Taught a kid how to roll cast with my rod. He was really excited when he caught one and kept it. Later on he tried to fill his bucket with water but the fish escaped. :( Caught another fish for him of approximately equal size. Good luck to you kid, future fly angler extraordinaire!

The fishing was great, in terms of action, but could've been better. Should've brought the 5 wt rod instead of the Steelhead 8wt rod...little overkill for planters. Happy fishing everyone! Spring is almost here.

Additional Note: All fish were caught and released unharmed, except the one I gave to the kid. Urbanangler, was that you fly fishing by me today? Thanks for the last post!

No, did not fish yesterday. I am pretty much a spincastin hardware angler, but I did by a fly rod last year. Maybe I will learn how to use it this season. Glad you got some good action like me!

Looks like 6000 trout were planted in Green Lake on March 3rd.

Got a bite on Friday but lost it because I wasn't paying attention as I was talking to a guy passing by.
