Ted and Jason Couch joined us for a great day of deepwater trolling for Lakers on Chelan. This father and son duo met here in Chelan to get together. It is tougher for them to get together now because they live on opposite sides of the state. It was an overcast windless morning. This made it pretty easy to get our flatfish and spoons down there and keep them close to the bottom. We ran to just above the Yacht Club and started fishing at the 200 foot contour and worked our way deeper until we hit 400 feet deep. Then we cranked up and worked our way shallower. It started kind of slow with one fish on each of the first 2 passes. Then we doubled up. Then another one fish pass. Then we got a fish on each of the rods. By the end of the day we had a nice pile including three fish between 9.5 and 10 pounds. What a great day. The T4 purple glow flatfish caught most of the fish on the outrigger rods, but the purple glow Rushin' Salmon Wobbler caught all 3 of the big fish working on the outrigger rods. Working outrigger rods at these depths is not for the infirm. The Couch boys were great sports and stayed "on it" all day. What great company!
