My brother and I hit Newman Lake around 9am. Conditions could have been better. Cold rain, light breeze and low clouds made us glad we 'layered up' and had rain gear. No other boats on the water. We threw just about everything in the tackle box at them. Tried trolling spinners and Rapalas of different colors and at different depths. Tried drift-jigging, still-fishing with worms, Powerbait, crawlers and plastics. I think we need some warmer water temps/weather. Any tips or advice?

Not sure on water temp. Still slush and ice in a couple of the back bays. I know it's cold enough that you would have to 'snag' a fish to get action.

You know, I don't even know when Newman was planted with trout the last time. It has not been this year according to the above link.

IF I were going to pester trout in Newman, I would try working the area between Lat 47.776, Lon -117.106 and Lat 47.781, Lon -117.113. In the past, this area was always good to me.

Just remember if you catch a Pike in that lake keep it and call the WDFW..okay?

But return the Tiger Muskie unharmed. If you don't know the difference, the it is safer to release both. You cannot be fined for returning a pike, but you WILL be fined for keeping an undersized Tiger Muskie.
