After terrorizing a lot of trout over the past few weeks I hooked up with my new found fishing buddy Chris Erlicher of Yakima to try Rotary pond for some largemouth bass. We portaged my Jon boat on my wheeled cart albeit it was a rough go of it from the Northside trail. Still we managed to put in to Rotary pond in good time. Chris's second cast off of a dead fall log with a rainbow medium diver crankbait was blasted by a 3 lb plus largemouth! Unfortunaely, the hook came loose at the boat. I thought maybe we would find more bass on this trip, but we struggled to find any consistant bass bite. We tried senkos, flukes and tubes to no avail for nearly 2 hours. So we switched gears and did some trout trolling. Chris had a 16" or so rainbow hit and jump off of a trolled red super duper lure. After passing a few dimpling fish, Idecided to break out a jig and we were soon into some aggressive trout. We hooked and released a quick limit of aggreesive fish, 13 trout in all on chartruse skirt jigs tipped with berkley honey worms. Our bass outing fizzled, but we salvaged the trip by being flexible enough to pursue another species to make up for the sluggish bass bite. Jiggy
