I have had excellent luck here in the past few weeks in a spot I seldom see people fish. Today I, and a friend, decided to try something new. Using the same perch/gold kastmaster, we ventured to the opposite side of the lake that what I am used to fishing. After catching and releasing several small fish, we moved further up towards the very east end of the lake, and I am glad we did. My friends first cast he hooks and lands a 4-5 lb bright broodstock, I didnt think there was any left! About 30 min later I hook and land a very dark fish but sadly it swallowed the thing and was hooked pretty good in the gills so we kept him too. Over the next couple hours til dark we released 4-5 small fish apiece and each kept two broodstock which will be smoked within the next week or so. These fish turn out excellent when smoked properly. Overall an excellent day with a friend despite the wind and cold weather. Largest was 6lbs or so and the smallest fish kept was around 4. Usually dont keep the dark ones, but need something for the smoker. Good luck out there!

LOL, Agreed. Very ugly fish...sometimes you dont even want to touch them lol. However, its a fun and challenging fight on 4lb test and a kastmaster, plus I love smoked fish, so its worth the time to catch them despite their appearance.
