Part 2 of today's fishing was great. Fished Bitter along with pika206. Between the 2 of us we caught 5. All of mine came in the first 40 minutes and then only a couple of bites from some bass under some logs later in the evening. I experimented with a homemade wedding-ring-fly combo lure. I installed a really small hook to minimize injury to the fish. However, the fish I caught was so strong it bent the hook. After the fourth fish, the hook broke as I released it. When reeling in a medium to large fish on a small delicate hook it might be a good idea to reel them in slowly. Otherwise the hook gets bent and/or the fish's mouth gets cut up a lot more.

Tons of Chironomids hatching on the surface. Oddly, hardly any risers, so I didn't get to bust out the dry fly. Some bank fishers were able to pull some planters up. There were even two guys in a boat pulling up a couple of bass. They said they got 5-6 of them. A fly fisher guy was casting on the south shore with a woolly bugger. That's been an effective fly for me on this lake lately.

This might be the last report for a while...all the pictures of the trout I catch look pretty much the same so not much use in posting them all the time. I'll post more later for other lakes or if I get another species. Tight lines.

Rainbow trout do look the same from picture to picture. But a picture sure does spice up a report. Shows weather at time fished. Boat float tube, bank or dock fished from. Sometimes a face to go with the screen name. This is 1 vote for included pictures with your report.

Haha, OK. I'll keep putting up the pics. I hate to touch the fish too much, to avoid injuring it, but I'll try to vary the angle so it's not just a fish in a net all the time. Here's a tip of the day: After you hook a fish, keep its head pointing up. As long as you have its head up, it's more difficult for the fish to shake free, even with barbless hooks. I usually keep my rod high and pull the fish's head up until it's just below the surface and slowly guide it towards me for a landing. Try this and you should lose fewer fish and have more fun.
