Each year around this time the Parks and Recreation has a Family Fish In. The title is a little misleading because it is for kids only and you have to be signed up through the Parks and Rec department, but it is really nice. For $5 you get a new (cheap) Zebco rod and reel and all the worms the fish can eat until your child hits their two fish limit.

In the years past we had no problem getting the limit quickly. This year we had one get on the hook but got off before we could get him in. And plenty of worms went to their death at the hands of nimble fish with the skill to take a worm off a hook.

This is a lot of fun and the fishing at this lake is great for the kids. Since is is juvenile's only the fishing pressure is usually pretty low and during the summer you are almost guaranteed that your child will get something. In the winter and late fall it's hit and miss.

This year I think it was a combination of the fact that both my children were a little impatient and we chose an afternoon time slot instead of a morning time slot.
