My uncle and I went to Shoecraft this morning for the opener. Yep, I know it's open year round, that's exactly why we went there.. My jaw dropped when we pulled into the parking lot at 715 and we were the first car there. In fact we were the only boat on the lake until 800 near as I could tell. At 730 we started our troll, and, at 735 we had our first and biggest fish of the day in the boat (pic). At 930 we were limited and fishing for bass. Our trout ranged from 12-16" extremely fat and fiesty, lots of jumpers. I can't tell you exactly what we were using cuz where would the fun/challenge be in that. Here's what I will tell you. Trolling absolutely more effective than downfishing, concentrate your efforts on the boat launch end of the lake, keep presentations small and 1/4oz egg is the most weight you need.

Nice fish and if I may; sharing the details of your success such as what you used or where exactly you caught your fish will only help someone else experience the same enjoyment you did and won't affect your future fishing trips or the number of fish a lake holds. Just a thought with good intentions and thanks for your report.
