We normally don't fish opening weekend, but because of the lack of nice weather we made an exception Sunday afternoon and headed up to Loon for a few hours for some trout action and was not disappointed. Ran into an old friend at the public launch that's been fishing this lake for 35 years and said the bass aren't in shallows yet, water temps in the high 40's-low 50's still, but the Tiger Trout we pretty aggressive in the shallows, he had a nice one nail his Senko but broke off at his boat. So, we headed left from the launch over to where the lillies are normally and spent about 30 min throwing some plastic's, finally gave up, went and trolled the dock's and finally some got some action. Ended up with 6 nice sized trout, 3 rainbows and 3 tigers with the biggest going 3.5lbs. Man, those tigers are really aggressive and fight hard! The wife was trolling her usual powerbait worm combo and I was throwing a 4" trout swimbait and a white and chartruese chatterbait. Man, those tigers really liked the chatterbait.

Nice fish there Jim. NOt a bass but not bad, i went to downs two weeks ago and landed to bass in the 2 pound area. Too wendy to really do any good fishing though. Let me know if you plan on doing another evening fish at long, i would love to join you again if possable. Keep on reporting for us other anglers.

Thanks Tim, good to hear from you, we'll hook up again this spring/summer, maybe get into some Pike action on the PO, I haven't been up there this spring yet. Working on trying to branch out among the other species, may even break out the Fly rod this year, been a few years since I've been out in my float tube. I couldn't believe how vicious these tigers are, hit hard and fight like the smallies in Lake Spokane! When this one hit I thought I had snagged a dock rope, but when it started pull me down and move sidways I new fish on! I also found out the hard way but their teeth are a little bigger than the Browns!

That is a good story, what happened to trying to catch a 8 pounder this season? That was your goal as of last year.

The season is still young, going to fish more during the spawn this year compared to years past, you have to remember, only been a boat owner for a few years. Also, I've never been a fan of pulling spawning bass off their beds, I'm always afraid I'll injure them, take's them quite a few years to get that big up here. Besides, I've already caught a couple 10 lb Florida Strain, have the 10.8 mounted, when you come by and pick up your Bass Pro Shops T-shirt and buzzbait you can see her!
