Sunday we went to Mineral to see how crowded it would be on the day after opening. We were greeted by a Lewis County Sheriff who took the boat through a quick inspection. It was the easiest inspection I've been through and ended up with a receipt that he said I could show at any Lewis County lake so that I wouldn't have to go through it a second time. Very nice.
There were a lot of boats on the lake but we were able to troll around pretty well, but the catching was a different story. Again, we didn't get there very early but one guy coming off the lake showed us the biggest rainbow we have ever seen, I'd guess in the 4.5 to 5 lb category.
While the weather was absolutely beautiful and Mt. Rainier and the eagles were great to watch, the catching was slow. We were on the lake from 8 am until about 3 and one guy limited and the other two of us each caught 3. All fish were the smaller (about 10") fish.
On the way home we decided that we will either have to get there earlier or chanage our tactics.
