The water quality is very poor in that pond, so it eating bass out of there would be a bad idea.

I hope they tasted good. There are plenty of lakes around here that are loaded with Bass. Some of them are so over populated that the fish are all small, not enough food. I catch and release all kinds of fish, native rainbows and browns in Montana. Big fat native steelhead all over Washington, but if i feel like eating a Bass or a Planted Trout i dont want to get a bunch crap from some almighty Bass Fisherman or some purest Fly Fisherman. I fly fish, Bass fish, Steelhead fish, and salmon fish all over the country. I'm a Fisherman and will use what ever method catches fish in the water i'm fishing. And sometimes i even eat one. Sorry.

the water in waughop is extremely dirty and polluted. at one point it was completely drained and refilled due to the water pollution. way to post reports where you are blatantly breaking the laws / regulations. don't be surprised if a game warden catches you in the future..

nothing wrong with keeping fish as long as it is legal. Just read the regs!

That pond is very polluted. I eat almost anything but would not eat a bass out of there. Not to mention if you kept those fish you just poached half of the large bass population out of the pond.

If fish can live in the pond or Lk it's not polluted. Fish have a slime all over them to keep them safe in water. If you want to eat bass eat on. There are plenty of bass in the waters in Wa. The fish in the pics don't look very large to me, they look like keepers. And bass are very good to eat when you clean them just cut the red meat off. Good job!!
Don't let others bring you down for keeping fish.

hog hunter and nathen
keeping illegal fish, anyone with any sense will bring you down
learn the regs and i don't want to hear either of you complain about bad fishing in the future
that is a small lake and can't support fish being kept like that
all three are illegal bass 12" to 17" are illegal to keep
idiots make me mad

Yup, illegal if kept. If known though, I don't think you'd have posted incriminating photos. Never thought I'd see the day where a tape measure was the number one tool of fishing, but it could get REAL expensive if you forget. Keeping the slot fish can really damage a lake, according to my fisheries biologist friend. Live & learn.

if you released them my bad, but what did you keep them in for the time you were fishing to get all of them in the picture at once?
but i still feel the same toward hawg hunter for saying to keep illegal fish

here's a question...why keep them if you are going to release them?...are you pretending to be in a tournament or something...trying to save film ( oh wait its a digital world) ...while bass are a pretty tough fish, I see no reason to keep fish in a container...I guess the only reason is to stack them like wood for a proud picture....nice picture by the way .....its not illegal to posses fish in the slot...just illegal to keep them .... good job on catching some fish though...

I believe this is parallel to instances that happened a few years ago down here at Silver Lake. If I remember correctly, and I can look at the posts from a few years back to make sure...fish placed on a stringer are considered kept fish, regardless if they are released or not.
tpursell
5/6/2011 9:25:00 AM
Weird...just get a pic and put them back. The stringer can damage their gills...You need to invest in a livewell or just release them right away. Why keep them on a stringer anyway, I don't get it? And HAWGHUNTER, wow you are a first class moron.

DITTO TPursell, especially the last comment. The fish do have a slime coat that protects them, too bad in the subject's pics they got dirt and crap all over them. Keeping fish of that SIZE is illegal, keeping bass period to eat is stupid from a bass fishermans point of view. If you invest in a livewell so you can get a multiple fish pic at the end of the day, you can still get cited for possessing too many fish of a certain size. In a bass boat, you just have a little better chance of getting away with it. Shorebound, catch, picture, and release immediately.

Just take a picture right away Nathan. It is obvious you posess a camera.

5/6/2011 2:08:00 PM
ChrisB nailed it. Even with a livewell you can only keep one of those fish with you. Nobody is being a girl, you are just not following the rules and people don't like it. If you didn't know, that's okay...just be more careful, those rules are in place for a reason. If you knew and are doing it anyway, well then...

You must decide if your ego or the bass being healthy is more important to you it is your decision to make!

Wow, what a thread!!!! Keep your stringer for fish you intend to keep, and that's cool. What's uncool is holding them and keeping them stressed for an inexcusable and unnecessary amount of time. There is something definitely wrong with your train of thought if you are more concerned about what others might think about the proof of you catching fish is more important than the well being of the bass you caught. It might just be me, but shoot... I think it would have been better if you had separate photos or had a portable live well for the sake of the bass. I am not ripping you to put you down... Just hoping use of a little common sense that could go a long way in keeping the bass healthy. I realize I took a few words too many. tracker44 said it much more succinctly.
