I was also inspired by Elijah to try out the log boom area. Launched my kayak around 4:00 and fished the area between the pier and houses on the west side. Out of respect for Elijah and the other pier fisherman, I didn't fish within their casting distance.

I brought two crawdad pots I built that morning, but my fishfinder crapped out on me, so I was setting them blind. Needless to say, all I caught in the traps were two minnows.

I was determined to catch my first LMB on a jig, but it was not to be. I switched to a spinnerbait when the wind picked up and caught a little one. I was also trying to locate some perch and happened to catch my first Lk Wash cutthroat. I know, it's hard not to be jealous of its size. Yes, it was released to pass on its genes.

After I was done fishing, I was able to meet the legend himself, still haunted by the one that got away.

Nice to meet you, Elijah.
