What a FIGHT!, 1 - 12incher, on my 4'8" ultra light ugly stick.
I was just out to kill some time so I stopped by a friends place on the lake and tossed a gold KastMaster with some power bait, from the dock.
Second cast got a hit but no hook up. Third cast and the hit was like snagging an airplane!
I had to remind myself that this was Ultra Light gear and 2 or 4# test P-Line (can't remember but being P-Line I shouldn't have worried.) So I actually had to play a trout. What an awesome fight. Full 8 or 9 mins of playing him to the dock. Musta looked like I hooked a swardfish or Marlin, the way I played him in the the pole half bent over. Several times I thought the line would snap. Man that was fun. Dropped him off at the house for dinner tonight and off to the rest of the day I went.
Think I'll come back tomorrow and try again. After last year of a buddy landing a a 5# salmon with the same ultralight setup with 4# P-Line, I had to give it a try. I landed a couple of flounder/sole last year, but not much fight in the little ones. This was FUN today!!!
Can't wait to get my 7' Livingston rerigged. Or to get the two Kayaks I have set up for fishing.
I have used P-Line for a couple of years now, and I have yet to break a line. If I snag up I ha ve to intentionally cut it. When I got the reel it had some Shakespear 6# on it that I could snap without effort. One reeel I had 2# put on and the other I had 4# put on. Either one I could not break with my hands in the store, although I did manage to cut my self with it yanking it to try and snap it.
