Still seems slow on Long water temps still low 50's, highest I saw (left at 11am) was 51.4 degrees. Marked quite a few fish in 8-12 feet of water but just couldnt get them to bite. Would love any help on how to get these fish to bite would be awesome. Fish were suspended and I tried Spinner baits, Crank baits, swimming a jig all to no avail.

Got this nice smallie on a pumpkin colored tube on a rocky drop off. Tried to match the pattern but no solid bites. Weather was great glad I got out early.

Bro. I love fishing Long and at times the smallies are pretty picky. I like throwng smaller profile 2" double tails in smoke or green pumpkin on A 1/16TH oz. jighead in water under 15 feet. I use a 6 and a half foot Loomis GL 2 light action rod and an Okuma It 20 spinning reel with 6 lb Mc Coy Mean green line. I also scale down to a 2.5" smoke/s+p or a pumpkin green flake Jerry's mini mag tube jig ,with a Gami 1/16th oz. inner tube jighead, smothered with Mike's crawfish gel. Another smallie favorite on Long Lake is a Yum Dinger 3" in Babby bass or cinnamon/purple texas rigged weight less on a Gami # 2 off set shank worm hook. Toss this rig up shallow and use a twitch pause retrieve. (Those Spokane River smallies love this rig.) Keep a Zoom Chartruse marker pen ready to add a little color to the tail of your plastics. Last but not least , rig a Zoom curl tail worm in watermelon red /black flake on a small profile chartruse/ lime green jighead. Most of your hits will come on the drop. Jiggy
