On my 7 year old sons suggestion we decided to hit Clear Lake seeing that the weather for Sunday would be nice. Since I have enough salmon in my freezer and have had enough "combat fishing", we headed out fairly early. Arrived around 7ish, a couple of boats on the water. Water was smooth and water temperature had dropped to 63, down from the 70 from last week. Made a big difference as we found out. Trolled the usual gear just a different color. A pink and purple sling blade with a red wedding ring seemed to be the trick. Fish were hitting hard and fighting harder than normal. Made it a little tougher with the 4 and 5 ft ugly sticks , but made it a challenge. My son got the opportunity to fight fish the proper way rather than horse them in. Yes he lost a few big ones but that's how he learns. After losing just a couple of fish , he figured it out. After catching the first 6 of our limit, the bite was off. We moved to about 35 ft of water and with a 36 inch leader and a slip sinker we still fished for about 45 minutes. Using yellow and green power bait, we filled our stringer and headed in for an a burger and some time to talk about the day. For all you non believers in late season lakes I did send a picture of my son with the stringer of fish to Washingtonlakes.com. Don't know if he will post it , but its there. Had a great time and my son pretty much out fished me again.( of course he had a little help!) See you out on the lake sometime soon.
Take a kid fishing!!!!
Thanks Havoc & son
