Finally Saturday! I hit the water at 5 am, and had the lake to myself. It was a cool morning, with a bit of rain and breeze, just enough to keep the jetskiers home (thank you God!). My hands were actually warmer in the the water than out. I tried sitting still with a worm off the bottom, with a couple of peckish hits but no catches. About 9 am I switched to pink lemonade powerbait (water depth: 32 feet, 3 ft leader). The line barely had time to settle when I got a solid bite. I pulled in a 10 inch rainbow, nothing great but, hey, at least I wasn't gonna be skunked. I kept for about another 40 minutes, not even a nibble. I switched to a flatfish lure to troll, but promptly tangled my line in the prop. After clearing that mess (not easy in a canoe), I figured someone didn't want me to troll, so I went back to worm on the bottom. It was getting close to quitting time (other commitments), so I left my line in the water while I started pulling up the anchor. I noticed my pole start to twitch, while I was drawing up the anchor. Figured "I must of snagged my line with the anchor". Nope. Started to reel in, and found a nice 14" suprise fightin' back! 'Twas a very pretty (and pissed off!) rainbow. Worm dunkin' ain't high tech, but it works!
