Thought it was going to be a stellar day. Got on the water at 7am. Calm, clear, no wind. Water temp 55-57. Trolled both shallow and deep with various spoons, flatfish, and Rapalas for over and hour without so much as a hit. Finally picked up one stocker. Dead again for another hour and half. Decided to try for some SMB, so swapped out gear. First cast I snagged a log and lost my setup. Reloaded with a Senko and after 30 minutes of slow fishing with just a few light pickups that didn't result in anything I had to run to the park to recycle my coffee. Trolled a Rapala on the way back and started getting hits. Picked up another trout. The wind had picked up, so hit the restroom and back on the water to try for trout again. Got consistent hits on the Rapala and lost a few at the boat, but managed to land two more. Ran out the gear that I had previously hooked to the downrigger, but just let it trail behind the boat (dodger/spoon combo) and picked up another two that were larger than the previous three. I had my limit and I was out of time, so packed it up at 11:30. Bass will have to wait for another day. I saw that the people fishing from the peir had not been doing well in the early morning either, but the bite must have picked up as they were consistently pulling in trout in the last hour. Brass/bronze seemed to be the color that finally produced for me.
