The new Minn Kota motor functioned more or less flawlessly. I made the mistake of letting my line get too close to the prop, which prompt sucked up about a foot of line. Had to dry dock and remove the line. Did the same for the anchor line but we were able to do a mid-water repair successfully. Trolled most the evening with only 1 trout a piece for Pika206 and me. Then Pika hooked a largemouth near a dock and I got one trying to reel in my wedding ring. Oh well, whatever works. But after sunset I got owned by Pika. I got only 3 rock bass on an ultralight with a crankbait while he must've pulled in 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 rock and largemouth bass on a Texas rig. I don't know, we stopped counting. J/k, nice job Pika. Largest one was about a pound. Most fish were caught in practically pitch dark conditions so only one caught earlier in the day is shown. The insect hatch was huge today! Literally clouds of insects over the entire surface of the water. Maybe that's why the trout weren't biting our lures...they were gorging themselves on insects. When they turned off the lights at the baseball fields and it was really pitch dark, we called it a day and put the motor on 5, all ahead flank, and headed back to the launch site. That 38lb thrust motor can really haul! Very happy with the Minn Kota Endura 38 motor. Thanks Matt! Now if only it took less than 24 hours to charge the 100 amp-hour battery...:)
